ABOUT MIKE

Mike is a wonderful classical guitarist with a passion for classical guitar composers from the South America's. A biochemistry/zoology graduate from Hull University , Mike played guitar from an early age.

After completeing his degree he studdied classical guitar as an external pupil at the Gulidhall School of Music and Drame at the Barbican in London, and later as a full time student at Trinity College of Music, Londeon, graduating with teachers, and performers licentiatesand a Fellowship in guitar performance from Trinity College.  Whilst still a student he performed widely as soloist, accompanist (voice, flute etc.) and as the guitarist to The 20th century 'Blue Rider Ensemble' directed by John Jansson.

After graduation he continued his studies with master-classes with the Venezuelan vituoso Alirio Diaz and the Cuban Manuel Barrueco, and was a finalist in the annual Guitar Foundation of America held that year at Milkwakee , Wisconsin . 

1982 saw his London debut at London 's South Bank Purcell Room performing as soloist and accompanist. Mike taught giutar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama junior department where he was also a senior examiner. Other teaching postsincluded the Universities of Kingston upon Thames and Essex (The Colchester Intitute). 

He moved to Devon in 1996 where along with his teaching and performing he ran the Blue Walnut Cafe one of Torquays most prestigious music venues and containing the smallest independant cinema in the world.

During this time Mike perfomed with violinist Alison Holt as the duo "Ten Strings"

In 2010, Mike recorded the album "Milonga" following his passion for South American composers and guitarists. Tragically Mike died from Pancreatic Cancer in April 2010. This website is maintained so family, friends new visitors can appreciate Mike's work
